What is the Transportation Off-Site Levy?

Rocky View County has proposed a new transportation levy under bylaw 7599-2016. The bylaw is styled as:

a Bylaw of Rocky View County in the Province of Alberta, to authorize an off-site transportation levy to pay for the cost of new or expanded roads required for or impacted by Subdivision or Development occurring on certain lands within Rocky View County.

Staff is recommending that the base levy be increased to $25,000 per gross acre for new development, from the current rate of $4,600.

The proposed bylaw was tabled at Council for more discussion. Rocky View 2020 would like to ensure that the bylaw is compliant with the Municipal Government Act and that it adds value for all property owners in Rocky View County.
