Thanks to the help of many of our members who wrote into the Committee in support of our presentation. It made the difference. On October 7th 2014, Rocky View 2020 presented to the Rocky View Policy and Priorities Committee. Our presentation called for a thorough review of the measures and impacts of the County Plan. This is a review called for in the County Plan itself. Our position has been that in light of the record growth in the Calgary Region and so little of it coming to Rocky View a complete detailed review will bring out shortfalls in the Plan.
We also pointed out that many people voiced concerned when the County Plan was developed. That concern was consistent with the majority report of the Reeves Task Force. The point of concern is that the plan should not impose limits on growth and “draw lines” where the development will (or will not) occur. Instead let the market and the community determine what will work.
At the completion of the presentation the committee agreed to ask for the details of the planned measurement review for the next meeting of the Committee. They will then determine if the measurement assessment plan is robust enough to proceed for a full report on December 2, 2014.
