2016

We anticipate 2016 will be a very important year for our region. The Provincial Government is set to start with the growth management board discussions. Though details from the Province are sketchy at this point, we will push for local representation in those discussions so your voices are heard and understood.

In just the last month or so, we have been very active on a couple of very important Provincial/local issues.
On Bill 6, we were quick to speak up for farmers and ranchers, calling on the Government to consult with the very people who drive Alberta’s agriculture industry before making radical changes to how things are done on family farms. I had countless conversations with farmers/ranchers in our area for context and perspective and was able to convey that through the media so we were heard. Thanks to all for your input.

Rocky View 2020 has also taken the lead in standing up for landowners and opposing Chestermere’s bizarre annexation request of nearly 25,000 acres in the County. We engaged stakeholders, including the AAMDC, the Wildrose and PC’s, and together called on the Minister of Municipal Affairs to intervene and dismiss this request, which circumvented any due process and would most certainly drive land values down for residents.

Your ongoing support ensures we can continue to give voice to important local, regional and provincial issues, making sure the facts are on the table in all discussions. We exist to make sure your voice is heard.

Contact me anytime if you have ideas/issues/concerns, or would just like to chat. Thank you for your ongoing support.
