Rocky View County Council had a full agenda for its regular Council meeting this week and they made several big decisions on Area Structure Plans (ASP’s).

Changes Coming to Municipal Planning Commission
Council directed Administration to draft proposed motions and bylaw amendments to facilitate the dissolution of the County’s Municipal Planning Commission and assigned Administration as the Subdivision Authority for deciding on all Subdivision applications, with exceptions, and as the Development Authority for deciding on all Development Permit applications, with exceptions. Administration is also directed to present the proposed motions and bylaw amendments to Council no later than April 1, 2022.
Bearspaw ASP on Hold
Council voted to place the Bearspaw Area Structure Plan project on hold to await a decision on the draft CMRB Regional Growth Plan by the Minister of Municipal Affairs. Administration is directed to present a report to Council no later than two months following a decision by the Minister.
Bragg Creek ASP on Hold
Council voted to place the Bragg Creek Area Structure Plan project on hold to await a decision on the draft CMRB Regional Growth Plan by the Minister of Municipal Affairs. Administration is directed to present a report to Council no later than two months following a decision by the Minister.
Conrich ASP Goes Forward
Council directed Administration to proceed with the Conrich Area Structure Plan Future Policy Area project as per the adopted Terms of Reference.

Council has a special meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 1st. There is no agenda published at this point.
CAO Search Ongoing
There is no public information available on the search for a new CAO in Rocky View. We do know that the search is ongoing and we will update you should any information become available. Byron Reimann continues to act as Interim CAO.
