Rocky View County CAO Al Hoggan has resigned, accepting a new job as CAO in the municipality of Bonnyville. Hoggan has overseen dramatic change at Rocky View County and will be sorely missed. He was instrumental in improving process for County residents by changing the culture to a “how do we get to yes” system where ratepayers and landowners were treated with great respect. He has led Rocky View County at a challenging time, managing to move the County forward in several important areas. Through his leadership, the Municipal Development Plan (MDP) was rewritten as were many important policies and planning documents including the Springbank ASP’S. Hoggan has been instrumental in guiding administration and working with Council to stand up for Rocky View residents, and all rural residents, in the ongoing battle against the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board (CMRB). When reached for comment on his resignation, Hoggan said, “I’m proud of the things we were able to accomplish together. I hope I leave the County better than I found it. I enjoyed working with a great staff. Rocky View is a County with unlimited potential, and I wish everybody all the best in the future.”
Hoggan will give three months’ notice as per the terms of his contract however as is often the case in situations like this, he could be paid out and leave early. As always, we will keep you posted on any important developments in Rocky View.
